The Walk.

newtboy says...

Lol. No details AT ALL in that video. Not even any accusations, only hints that her daughter, whoever that is, she's anonymous, had some workplace "problems". Pretty sad if that's the best corroboration. Sweet zombie Jebus, that's stretching farther than Stretch Armstrong.

There's only one other named first hand witness from Ford v Kavanaugh, specifically the second accused attempted rapist, Mike Judge, the ONLY other named person in the room, also not called to testify....

It's no surprise he doesn't want to testify that he raped a girl, is it?

Another not heard was his girlfriend Elizabeth Rasor...

Mark Judge’s ex-girlfriend, Elizabeth Rasor, recently spoke to the New Yorker challenging the claim that the accusation against him was out of character for either he or Judge Kavanaugh....but...

“Rasor recalled that Judge had told her ashamedly of an incident that involved him and other boys taking turns having sex with a drunk woman. Rasor said that Judge seemed to regard it as fully consensual. She said that Judge did not name others involved in the incident, and she has no knowledge that Kavanaugh participated.”

https://kslnewsradio.com/1891897/brett-kavanaugh-witnesses/

Neither did we hear the seven contemporaneous corroborating witnesses....

Edit: I think the person you're talking about when you say "Ford's first hand witnesses, who she says were in the room, said they remember nothing happening between Ford and Kavanaugh." is Leland Ingham Keyser who didn't recall anything, not surprising because she wasn't told about the assault, wasn't on the same floor when it happened much less in the room, didn't know Kavanaugh, and to her this was just one more uneventful weekend drinking party where she didn't know most people attending in a long string of similar drinking parties, most not recalled in any detail. She didn't recall the party itself, which all parties agree happened and that she attended. Hardly a rebuttal.

I guess you don't recall the hearings, or that Republicans refused to hear witnesses, only two testimonies, Ford and Kavanaugh, with Ford examined by sharky outside lawyers brought in solely to discredit her, not examine her accusations.

Erlich Owning Kids - Silicon Valley

ChaosEngine says...

Erlich. Turns out he's a pretty bad bloke in real life.

He was accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend in college. There's also a bunch of stories from various people (including the creator of Silicon Vallet, Mike Judge) about how he was just a nightmare to work with.

TBF, none of that is proven... but he was DEFINITELY in Transformers, and I just can't forgive shit like that.

Terry Crews Hallucinates While Eating Spicy Wings | Hot Ones

moonsammy says...

This makes a lot of sense. In 2000, The Simpsons predicted President Trump. King of the Hill historically aired after The Simpsons. Mike Judge created King of the Hill. A few years after The Simpsons predicted Trump's presidency, Judge also created Idiocracy, in which Terry Crews played Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Comacho, five-time Ultimate Smackdown champion, porn superstar, and President of the United states.

I'd totally vote for him in Election 2020, brought to you by Carl's Jr.

Tabs v(ersu)s Spaces from Silicon Valley S3E6

Buttle says...

I can't speak to the quality of the show, although it's hard to go wrong with Mike Judge.

Spaces v tabs seems like a fine thing to joke about. I just couldn't suspend disbelief about how it came up. Here's the sort of thing that really happens:

Bob opens one of Shiela's files, just to read it so he can figure out how something works. He sees gibberish for indentation, and says, "Hey, Shiela, what happened to lose_harder.cc?
The indentation is all wrong."

She doesn't know what he's talking about, and takes offense that lasts for most of the rest of the episode. Eventually she figures out what he's complaining about, and says "What's your tab width? I used 3, to optimize file size with our typical indents". Bob says "How should I know what my tab width is? Why should I care? Are you mental? Three?"

Was just having this discussion the other day.

It's one of the very rare things where a Mike Judge product doesn't make much sense [unintentionally].

It's nonsensical argue for a smaller file size. But on the other side of the coin, it screws everyone else up if you use tabs because then whenever other developers open the file and they [rightly] use spaces, they're screwed.

Anyway, check out that link I included above. The comparison between income of US developer and India developer is shocking.

How Systemic Racism Works

shang says...

I'm prejudice but that's because its human nature. I find black women disgusting ugly. But that's just me, I can't see them any other way. Its ugly. I don't like dark tanned women either.

Moron political correctness sjw mongs need to quit labeling preference as racism. I personally find idea of 2 guys rutting gross, heck even Jim carrey puked in his movie after seeing it. Many find it gross, but that's just personal preference.

I won't tell others how to live, but I want to live my way and no sjw PC retard will get me to do otherwise.

Political correctness sjw, want to force everyone into collectivism. That is the sheep herd mentality, unable to think for yourself, everyone copies same morals and ethics and tolerates all.

That is not human

Individualism is human, individual choices, prejudices, morals, ethics and do not tolerate those that try to brainwash you into collectivism.

Even Morgan Freeman recently stated humans are bigoted and must be so its our nature and has allowed our survival and evolution and progress. If we eliminate bigots and force collectivism human progress stops. Evolution ends, no more survival of the fittest, but Mike Judge's idiocracy comes true in a collective political correct society.

Political correct and sjw should be banned and instantly removed for being antihuman, anti freedom and anti individualist. Sjw and PC are true hate groups more lethal and crazier than any fundamental religion.

They are the real terrorists

That probably wasn't the professors real Inbox either. I've never met one that can possibly keep their Inbox that clean!

on another note- humanity is doomed. "kids these days" can only use SMS-speak. Mike Judge is the new Nostradamus because Idiocracy is coming! (sooner than 500 years though)

This is also Mike Judge's new project. Apparently he has a physics degree and worked as a software engineer for a defense contractor before Beavis and Butt-head. Weird.

Sarzy (Member Profile)

Crazy awesome fight scene from THE RAID

shuac says...

Preamble: Much as I hate going through these sorts of exercises, they are sometimes necessary, particularly when a thread has gotten large. People forget what they're responding to; what the topic really is at the time they're responding, leaps of logic, etc. One thing's certain about these summaries: they're always helpful. <- Yes, that's a boast.
1. I posted some quotes from Roger Ebert's review (and blog) that I thought captured my own feelings about The Raid, including a brash comparison to the joke movie Ass featured in Mike Judge's hilarious flick Idiocracy.

2. I get dressed down by Sarzy for said comparison. Sarzy also claims Ebert said there was no craft or artistry to The Raid (which he never actually said, but never mind) and that The Raid is a martial arts milestone.

3. ChaosEngine makes an amusing ad populum argument and later makes a strong case for the merit of terse storytelling and inference of story elements.

4. I ask Sarzy why The Raid is a milestone.

5. Sarzy responds with many heartfelt testimonials by sympathetic reviewers, personal opinions, and lauds its choreography and direction.

6. I excise all the subjective-slanted testimony and focus on what is demonstrably true about The Raid: it was choreographed and directed with great care. I point out that without context (story), conflict is without meaning.

7. ChaosEngine gives it one last try with another amusing post about inference of story elements on the part of the viewer and indirectly calls me a prick. Classy!

8. I respond to ChaosEngine by inferring a wonderful storyline to Ass, instantly making it one of the best joke movies I'd ever watched.

9. Sarzy points out that plenty of other genres of film are short on story. The best examples are the "meditative" styles featured in art houses and the like.

10. I respond to Sarzy's excellent point by citing other possible gains (transcendence) by watching these "meditative" style pictures, gains that are not possible (in my opinion) with martial arts pictures. I remind him that I am responding to his point with, and I quote, "...I am merely responding to your point about the role of story."

11. Despite my reminder, Sarzy erroneously concludes that every film I see must transcend me to another plane even though all I was doing was attempting to shoot a hole in Sarzy's point about other films that are loose on story.

And that pretty much brings us up to date.

But do you see how helpful these summaries can be? They're my little innovation. You internet kids and your short attention spans made its creation a necessity.

Crazy awesome fight scene from THE RAID

shuac says...

I liked Ebert's take on it:

"'The Raid: Redemption' is essentially a visualized video game that spares the audience the inconvenience of playing it."

Another gem:
"There's obviously an audience for the film, probably a large one. They are content, even eager, to sit in a theater and watch one action figure after another pound and blast one another to death. Have you noticed how cats and dogs will look at a TV screen on which there are things jumping around? It is to that level of the brain's reptilian complex that the film appeals."

And lastly:
"So what am I saying? "The Raid: Redemption" failed as a generic success because it simplified its plot too much? Not really. It is a generic success. And yet my heart sank and I asked myself: Is this all they want? Are audiences satisfied with ceaseless violence, just so long as they can praise it for being "well choreographed?" Is there no appreciation for human dimension, meaning, and morality?"

Gotta love the Eeeb! After reading this review, I was reminded of the fictional, award-winning film "Ass" from Mike Judge's Idiocracy and I thought to myself: We're on our way!

Beavis/Butthead First New Episode 2011

Beavis and Butthead are Back!

acidSpine says...

Ok, I'm 5 minutes into the first episode of new B&B and I had to run to the internets to warn it about how fucking shit this show is. It's like I wrote the fucking thing in a week, when I was twelve. I can't believe I defended the very idea of this show to a friend. If Mike Judge has anything to do with this he deserves his own B&B raping episode of South Park, or he would if anyone knew WTF Mike Judge looks like. I mean I torrented this episode but I still feel ripped off. Right this moment both of those fuckers are just chanting "porn porn porn porn porn porn" over and over again. The word porn has lost all meaning for me now. I have to search the internet for porn now, whatever that is, but I warn all of you. Forget this show exists 'cause, in a very real way, the show you were hoping for doesn't exist. New B&B exists but whatever new coke was existed too, and everyone hated it apparently. B&B will be like that except once the world hounds it's fettid stench from the nostril cavities of mankind nobody will ever mention it ever again.

Linkin Park: Burning In The Skies -- Music Video

kceaton1 says...

BTW, @ghark I don't really like this video either and that was never my opinion. In fact that is what set me off a bit as I never said it was a good video at all--this happens to be one of those videos that I'd gladly add to "Audiosift" when we get it (no video-just audio). The video has little to do with the song and is obviously using CGI and slow motion to grab the MTV crowd (I stopped watching MTV when it stopped playing music; sometime around the end of "Beavis & Butthead" -- even Mike Judge had songs in that, atleast) It's a passable video, but nothing else; i.e., "...it gets the job done.". The video for "Waiting For The End" is far better, visually, yet still is "context lacking". Their old videos were better in a lot of ways. I'd like to see a merger of the old and the new. But, it suffers from "Linkin Park video Syndrome" that started somewhere around the first Transformers movie.

A lot of these newer videos all borrow from that first video "Transformers" video, CGI and artistically (probably all done by the same people and crew). That's fine, but I agree it's not groundbreaking or anywhere near it. If you want that go watch this one:
