Personally I see motorcycle dudes with ultra loud engines as jackasses. Reckless BMW owners as jerks. And people who use the word faggot all the time as a bunch of dicks.
It's like if you go around calling your guy friends cunts all day. Then patronizingly explain to your wife that she shouldn't be offended because obviously it's not a matter of them really having vaginas. It's just an insult without any meaning. Bullshit.
Plus it would be sort of stupid for a company that sells beer to try to associate themselves with terrible driving and reckless disregard for public safety.
From videos like this outsiders might think Utah is a Mormon theocracy (or Morocracy). And that's certainly what the church would like, but Salt Lake City is actually surprisingly liberal, and has a strong gay community. This was a big news story here, and sparked protests. Including kiss-ins, where hundreds of people, both gay and straight, protested by holding hands and kissing on temple grounds. Of course they weren't arrested or thrown out - by this time the church was eager to avoid further embarrassment and bad publicity. The charges against the couple were also dropped.
This story makes me realize just how valuable the modern tradition of Halloween is as an early inoculation against some of the most insane and harmful superstitions that have infested our culture for centuries.
It's truly sad that some people, who could easily live in the modern world, prefer the terror and irrationality of the dark ages. . . Or at least prefer that their flock remain terrified and irrational to solidify their position as spiritual or religious leaders.
I'm sure that I am no alone when I say that I am terrified by the thought of maladjusted pairs of coyote-wolf hybrids, outcast by their kind and full of hate, that will kill you for no good reason. I don't mind wolfs, or coyotes, but wolfotes? Fuck. We need to stop them.
Not really a word choice fail, I think that's exactly what he meant to say. Though if the anchor has SEEN Kenny play the skin flute I bet he was getting a private performance.
>> ^rychan: The story looks fairly cliche as presented in this trailer -- realize you're fighting for the wrong side, epic battle climax. But James Cameron has done some amazing things in the past.
Good point, I hate how modern trailers attempt to give you a complete outline of the entire movie. It's like they assume audiences will avoid the movie unless they know exactly what to expect and can be assured that they will not be surprised by anything.
I have my doubts about this movie, given his last two (Titanic and True Lies). But, just like with George Lucas, I can't help but have so much fondness for his early movies that there's always the lingering hope he'll do something good again.
Actually, I thought it was rather like psychonauts in that the gameplay wasn't all that great, but you're distracted from that by the excellent setting, humor and art. Come to think of it, that was always true of his adventure games too. No one actually enjoys the gameplay of adventure games, but the old Lucas Arts games were funny and entertaining enough to make up for it.
If only this game were longer, more varied, more creative, and had a few more likable and interesting characters it would rank up there with his previous work. One problem was that they were so interested in paying homage to the Metal that half of the noteworthy characters were voiced by old drug addled musicians who speak in s sort of mumbling monotone. Yes, Ozzy isn't the only one.
I agree it's fraud. Though I don't see the difference between an organization that promises to save your soul from Threatens for a price, and one that promise to save your soul from Satan if you pay your tithing. Either way it's superstitious scaremongering for profit.
Mormon officials behave the same way when asked if they believe that some very pious Mormons (who must have penises) will be rewarded in heaven by being turned into gods, or if polygamy is an eternal principle practiced in heaven, or asked about their mother(s) in heaven - why she is never named and must never be prayed to. If as a member you ask about those topics too much or too publicly you get excommunicated, if an outsider asks about them they get stonewalled. And yet they really are part of their doctrine. The trouble is they desperately want to be considered mainstream, but they desperately want to be special as well. They don't seem to understand that those desires are mutually exclusive.
And, why wouldn't he collect evidence when this massive youtube/google coverup was supposed to have occurred? Now there are nearly 300,000 hits for "youtube vs the users" and 10 pages of results on youtube alone. He obviously owns a camera, it wouldn't have been hard to point that at his screen.
>> ^thepinky: I am very much in support of people who are gay, but I am slightly sick of hearing that when people make voting decisions based on their beliefs, they are somehow violating the "separation of church and state" doctrine.
Really, you've heard people make that argument more then once? Enough times to make you sick of it? If you can find some example that would be awesome, because it seems like a straw man to me.

Beer truck flipped on an overpass
I suspected this was a viral ad, setup by Bud. Otherwise called 'fake' by some people.
It is mostly the position of the debris field of cans and boxes that does it for me. Going way past the bridge.
But I just read a news article about it provided by the youtube link.
