Oh dear, that's not a bad parent. The kid was perfectly fine.

Yes, Sarzy, the parent should have said, "now don't run into the wall dear", and of course the kid would have instantly listened, and everything would have been grand.

Sometimes kids need to learn the hard way. The best teacher is pain.

We didn't see that there was a fly on the wall that had just insulted his train impression.. at his own expense, the kid nutted it to death

He might have wanted to turn wall-clipping off first.

Of course a responsible parent would have put a helmet on that kid.
And possibly some bubblewrap along the walls.

I saw this exact same thing happen at a college fitness center. Kid ran headlong into the glass back wall of a Racquetball court. It made a wondrous sound that I shall not soon forget. There was this same incessant wailing followed by a pronounced *FOOOOOOOM*, as if a giant bronze bell had been struck with a soft mallet, then three seconds of startled silence before the crying started.

Wall: 1, Kid: 0.

Keep filming this kid, in 12 years we'll see another Darwin video.

The instantly-blame-the-parent reaction always cracks me up. Wait for the reality of what you just saw to sink in next time, eh? Sometimes "kids will be kids" REALLY DOES APPLY!

You don't know a damn thing about parenting Sarzy.

They did exactly what they should have: let the kid figure out if he's hurt or not, and proceed from there. This was the best case. The kid learned a lesson about watching where he's going, and reinforced his ability to deal with an issue himself without requiring constant mothering.

The worst thing to do would be to rush out with an anxious look on your face saying "OH MY GOD ARE YOU OK?!". What happens then? He bursts into tears, not having realized that every little accident requires a huge production, and learns that parental intervention is called for every time something goes wrong.

Fast forward 10 years, and you end up with a kid incapable of performing even simple tasks himself, who spends time weeping on YouTube about people harassing Britney.

Well, sure, but I think there probably should be some kind of happy medium between running over there and coddling the kid, and cracking up and making sure the person with the camera was shooting your kid hurting himself.

I would've done the exact same thing as that parent. Laughed (because lets face it that was funny), and then wait for the kids reaction. He got up and didn't miss a beat....all's well. I'm sure that if he fell then started wailing she would've gone over. But its clear from the video, there was no need.

I'm very glad old Mamma didn't feel the need to coddle the little monkey. He'll be much better for it.

Take this little monster kid for instance.

lol... if this is bad parenting i'm REALLY bad... if you've got multiple kids who scrap all the time, you might not even recognize this event as having occurred. Here are some things to notice:

1) child continues to move after falling to floor
2) child is not grabbing at important head mounted sensors
3) child limbs have standard number of angles to them
4) there is no expanding pool of blood

^ pretty much summed up my dad's outlook on parenting my brother and I, "If there's no bleeding, all is well". We turned out fine.

Also, in regards to toddlers, falling down is a lot less of a big deal when you only stand 2 feet tall and your bum is padded by a ginormous diaper.
